Support the Officer in Distress Fund
When an officer’s in need, you can answer the call.
Real Lives. Real Stories.
The Officer in Distress Program has helped numerous LMPD staff members, officers and families – like the family of Officer Nick Rodman. When Officer Rodman was killed on March 29, 2017, after his vehicle was hit by a fleeing suspect’s car at a high rate of speed, the LMPF immediately provided support to his wife, Ashley; their 2-year-old son, Mason; and their five-week-old daughter, Ellie.
And when tornadoes significantly damaged the home of Officer Michael Zahradnicek in spring 2024, homeowner’s insurance covered much, but not all, of the cost. Because the LMPF stepped in to close the financial gap, Michael’s family, including his 15-year-old daughter with special needs, now has a safe and happy space.
